Airtel’s previous offering of extra data will now be available for another three months.
If you are an Airtel subscriber this news will make your day slightly better. In April, Airtel announced its ‘Holiday Surprises’ offer where it gave away 30GB of data for three months. This offer was in extension of the previous Surprises offer. Now, the operator has decided to continue offering the freebies taking cue from Reliance Jio.
Airtel announced that it is now extending the extra data surprise by another three months. Under the extended offer, Airtel subscribers will get the extra data for three more billing cycles. All that you need to do is claim the surprise data on My Airtel app after July 1, 2017. Once you activate, you should be able to avail the free data benefits till September 2017.
Following the launch of Reliance Jio’s 4G services, existing operators have come under immense pressure to prevent users from deviating to the rival connection. In a bid to do so, every other week there is a new announcement regarding change in data offerings, low-cost plans, and extension of free offers.
Recently, Airtel announced support for additional regional languages to its Digital Care service. Until now, the service had been available only in Hindi and English. Following the new update, users can access information in 10 other languages. One needs to simply dial *121# from their prepaid number and follow the on-screen guidelines to get information in the language of choice. You can make basic queries such as balance, validity, internet plans, etc related to your prepaid number. As of now, there is support for Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Gujarati, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu.
Recently, the telecom operators asked the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to set a minimum ‘floor rate’ for voice and data services. The operators argue that owing to Jio’s free offering the telecom sector is reeling under heavy financial stress and to overcome that, a fixed pricing should be done. Although a formal decision is yet to be arrived at, the proposed system will essentially kill Jio’s free offers and set a minimum base pricing mandatory for operators to follow.
